NOT ALL “FREE-FROM” FOODS ARE HEALTHY – THAT IS WHY IT MATTERS TO READ THE LABEL

Demand for free-from foods has grown enormously in recent years. More and more people are looking for gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free or vegan products, whether because of a food sensitivity or a conscious lifestyle. This is in itself a very positive change, as more and more people are paying attention to what they eat every day.

At the same time, it is important to talk about a lesser-known side of this trend:
just because a product is “free-from” does not mean it is necessarily healthy.

Many shoppers automatically assume that if a food carries a gluten-free or dairy-free label, it is a better choice. The reality, however, is more complex. On shop shelves there are plenty of free-from products made with long ingredient lists, artificial additives, flavour enhancers, stabilisers, flavourings or large amounts of sweeteners.

That is why one of the most important rules before buying is: always read the label.

The shorter the ingredient list, the better

A good-quality free-from product does not need to look like a “laboratory recipe”. It is worth choosing products that:

  • have a short and transparent ingredient list,
  • are made from natural ingredients,
  • do not contain unnecessary additives,
  • are free from artificial colours and flavourings,
  • do not overload the body with sugar alcohols or aggressive sweeteners.

Many people do not know this, but certain sweeteners and additives can have a negative effect on digestion and the balance of the gut flora in the long term. Behind bloating, abdominal discomfort or digestive problems it is often not the “free-from” diet itself, but the excessive consumption of ultra-processed free-from products.

The “clean label” approach is becoming more and more important

At All in Natural Food we believe that free-from nutrition must not only be allergen-free, but also truly nourishing and clean.

That is why we work with ingredients that:

  • are natural,
  • are easy to understand,
  • support the microbiome and digestion,
  • and contain no unnecessary compromises.

For us, “free-from” is not a marketing gimmick but a conscious approach. We want to make products that we ourselves would gladly give to our own families.

What to look out for when shopping?

Next time you put a free-from product in your basket, it is worth asking a few simple questions:

✔️ Do I recognise the ingredients?
✔️ Is the ingredient list short?
✔️ Does it contain artificial flavourings or colours?
✔️ How many additives have been added to it?
✔️ Does it support my body, or does it merely replace something?

Conscious shopping is not about perfection, but about making better and better decisions in everyday life.

Free-from can be delicious and clean at the same time

Fortunately, today we no longer have to choose between enjoyment and awareness. There are free-from foods that are truly made with clean ingredients and are delicious at the same time.

This is what we believe in at All in Natural Food:
💚 fewer additives
💚 more real ingredients
💚 transparent ingredients
💚 flavours without compromise

Because it is not only what is not in a product that matters.
But also what is in it.
